Hi Ryan, Actually television is our guilty pleasure. We love watching in the evenings to unwind. That said, Netflix sure is a bargain. :)

You can't go wrong paying for it if you use it and truly enjoy it. My wife and I didn't watch enough TV to justify the cost of cable, and for us, spending less than $10 a month for Netflix is a great deal, and saves us about $40 or more every month - which adds up quickly!

I've thought about this topic a lot, and this article is offering a "push" to investigate further. That said, I love the "on demand" exercise, network, free movie, hbo, showtime etc. programs. Our family milks our fios subscription dry!

I've also used both Netflix and Blockbuster in years past, but have been much more impressed by Netflix's selection, streaming option, and quicker turn-around in their distribution network.

After signing up for the free trial our credit card was not charged until 2 weeks later. This was at the time of the 2 week trial, now they have 1 month trial though.

Just remember to cancel before the end date to keep from getting your credit card charged.

So I just signed up for a free month of Netflix at the beginning of January. It was in fact free even though I had to input my Credit Card information and all that good stuff. However my card was not charged until Feb 10 one month after I signed up.

How is this free you ask well just like most service contracts (cell phone, cable etc) your monthly bill for service is actually prepaid not postpaid. This means that you will pay for the service that you use prior to actually using it. So yes the free trial offer is free and if you read the fine print you will notice that you can cancel at anytime prior to the end of your trial period and not be charged at all.

You should go through whatever airline miles or hotel points program you have. They usually give you about $10 worth of miles/points for signing up.
