I was lucky enough to receive a coupon in the mail for a ‘free’ family size box or bottle of Tide detergent with Downy. All you have to do is call this number 1-800-xxx-xxxx!
So I called them. After taking my info (most of which was not correct because I had a feeling where this was going…) they told me their company would deliver the detergent in person and give us complimentary water filtration testing.
I already know the results of their testing — “Your family is in immediate danger of contracting this ‘heretofore unknown waterborne illness’ unless you spend $3500 on our state-of-the-art water filtration system! But wait, if you act now, and upgrade, we can install it next week for $2900. All we need is $1000 down.”
And you never hear from them again. All to save $7 at Wal-Mart.
As soon as I said I wasn’t interested in the filtration test, they hung up. They didn’t even say thank you for your time! Does anyone think I’ll get that Tide?
I should have guessed something was wrong when the operator could barely speak English and I had to spell basic words to her.
