Guitar Center is one of the leading guitar and musical instrument stores in the US. If you are a musician and you’ve never set foot in a Guitar Center then you are missing out! Guitar Center, or GC as it is known in the biz, has one of the largest selections of new and used instruments and usually at the best prices around. One of the only places I’ve found that competes with Guitar Center on price is Musician’s Friend. Why is that? Guitar Center and Musician’s Friend are owned by the same parent company! (truth be told, I think Musician’s Friend often has better coupons than Guitar Center).
That said, they often run competing deals with each other. You may find that the deals and coupon codes at Guitar Center are different than the Musician’s Friend promo codes. About Guitar Center
Guitar Center was founded back in the 1959 as The Organ Center, where founder Wayne Mitchell sold electric organs and other music equipment. In the early 1960s The Organ Center rebranded under the name “The Vox Center” and started off selling the popular British made Vox guitars and amps when the Beatles and the British invasion inspired 1,000s of copycat bands looking to copy their signature sound.
When the Beatles broke up, musicians started going for the harder sound often found with a Marshall twin stack and a Gibson or Fender leading the way. You can thank the likes of Led Zeppelin and Eric Clapton for that sound! It was around that time that Guitar Center changed its name to the name we know and love. From there expansion took off and there are now well over 200 Guitar center stores in the US, and there are online divisions of Guitar Center, Musician’s Friend, and several other related music and instrument sites. Guitar Center also sponsors foundations for the musical arts.
