IHOP is giving away free pancakes! In a little less than two weeks, IHOP will be giving away a free short stack of pancakes in celebration of National Pancake Day.
This year National Pancake Day will be on February 24, 2009, which also coincides with Fat Tuesday – start of Mardi Gras.
About National Pancake Day
According to IHOP: National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.
Support Children’s Miracle Network
IHOP will be supporting a fundraising drive during the National Pancake Day celebration, and while the short stack of pancakes are free, IHOP suggest that a small donation is made on behalf of the Children’s Miracle Network. Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly two million dollars to support charities in the communities in which it operates. This year, IHOP hopes to raise $1,000,000.
Children’s Miracle Network helps improve the lives of children at the 170 Children’s Miracle Network hospitals nationwide. One hundred percent of the funds raised locally will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network hospital in the area.
