BringBackThriftWeek.org is trying to bring back a national financial event called National Thrift Week, which ran from 1916 to through 1966. The idea is to promote the 3 pillars of thrift: industry, frugality, and trusteeship.
Submit your thrifty ideas to win $100!
The group is sponsoring an essay contest to bring attention to their website, and garner interest in their movement.
All you need to do to enter is visit the contest page and submit your short essay (50 words or less). Here is the topic:
What’s the best thrift advice or habit you’ve picked up from someone who grew up in thriftier times?
The goal is to get people communicating with their elders about how we can get by with less – an important skill in these economic times!
The deadline for this contest is tax day, April 15th, 2009, and the winning entry will receive a $100 National Savings Bond.
Good luck!
