Citi has been working hard to differentiate their line of business cards from the crowd. One of the ways they have done this is by releasing co-branded business cards that feature additional benefits for certain users. They are also offering some nice sign up bonuses on select cards. One of their business rewards cards that meets both of these criteria is the Citi Business® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard®, which features solid benefits for all users, and some extra benefits when used on American Airlines, including a 30,000 mile bonus when you spend $1,000 within the first 3 months of owning the card. This is generally enough points to receive a round-trip coach ticket on most domestic American Airlines flights.

The Citi Business® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® is designed with the business traveler in mind, and it pulls double duty as a solid business rewards card and as a travel credit card. The primary benefits come when you use this card as a travel card, as cardholders receive priority boarding and your first bag is checked free for you and up to 4 travel companions.

Rewards and other benefits: You also earn double AAdvantage miles when you use the Citi Business® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® on eligible American Airlines purchases, and for purchases at select office supply stores, telecommunications companies, and car rental outlets. You will receive 1 AAdvantage mile on all other eligible purchases.

Companion travel tickets and bonus miles.  You can also earn a travel companion ticket for $99 when you spend $30,000 on your card in any given year and you renew your cardmembership. Government taxes and fees are not included in this companion ticket price. This benefit is in addition to the miles you earn. Another great feature is the ability to earn a 5% AAdvantage® mileage bonus based upon eligible purchases made during the cardmembership year. The number of bonus AAdvantage miles you earn will vary based on your spending patterns and qualified purchases.

Fees and Other Information

The annual fee of $95 is waived for the first year. If you are a frequent flier, the $95 annual fee is quickly made up for with the free checked bags for you and your travel companions, as well as the priority boarding, which is a great time saver.

Who Should Use This Card

The target audience is businesses with an established credit history. This is a solid credit card for the frequent business traveler, especially if American Airlines is your preferred airline.
