It seems like almost all airlines have a branded credit card these days. While it may seem like a marketing ploy, these airline rewards credit cards usually offer frequent travelers a great incentive to remain loyal to one airline or credit card issuer. And if you are a frequent American Airlines traveler, then I recommend looking into the cobranded card from Citi – the Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard®.
Earn American Airlines Miles with Ease
As far as sign up bonuses go, the Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World MasterCard® offers one of the best in the industry, rewarding new cardholders with 30,000 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles and 2 Admirals Club® Passes after making $1,000 in purchases within the first 3 months of cardmembership.* Most companies require new cardholders to meet a minimum spending requirement to activate their sign up bonus, and Citi is no exception. But it is relatively easy for some people to spend $1,000 within 3 months. Just be sure to pay the balance in full to avoid any finance charges.
Bonus miles and other perks. Eligible American Airlines purchases earn double AAdvantage® miles, and all other purchases earn one mile. You will also enjoy the other perks which come with this card, including Group 1 boarding, 25% savings on eligible in-flight purchases* such as food, beverages and headsets. Cardholders also get their first eligible checked bag for free.
Annual bonus. There are two ways to earn an annual bonus: the first is for being a member, and the second is for redeeming your miles. Each year you remain a cardholder, you will earn a $100 American Airlines Flight Discount with qualifying purchases and cardmembership renewal* You can also earn 10% of your redeemed AAdvantage® miles back – up to 10,000 AAdvantage® miles each calendar year*. For example, if you redeem 50,000 AAdvantage miles to book a 50,000 roundtrip flight, you will receive 5,000 AAdvantage miles back in your AAdvantage account approximately 6-8 weeks after booking.
