Hotel rewards credit cards are making their way back into consumers wallets, and Hilton has teamed up with Citi to release the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card. Now, simply because Hilton is looking to reward it’s frequent customers doesn’t mean you should simply sign-up for this card without reading the fine-print. We’ll do our best to present the pros and cons of this credit and why it just might be the best travel rewards card for you.
The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card immediately rewards new cardmembers with bonus points after meeting minimum spending requirements within the first four months of opening an account. Those points can be redeemed for a free room, and depending just how extravagant a Hilton Hotel you choose, your points can be worth up-to five nights (or more). The Hilton rewards program is broken down into categories and while a category one hotel runs 7,500 points per night, some hotels run more than 80,000.
Every purchase you make with the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card earns points toward free Hilton Hotel stays. Points can be earned in the following amounts:
- Earn 6 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent at any participating hotel within the Hilton Portfolio.*
- Earn 3 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent on purchases at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations.*
- Earn 2 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent on all other purchases.*
- Enjoy the benefits of HHonors Silver status as long as you are a cardmember*
- No annual fee.*
So long as you continue to be a Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Cardmember, you will receive Silver status, which includes perks when you stay a select Hilton Hotels. It’s important to note that if you do not qualify for the Signature version of this credit card, you may be approved for the Gold version, which carries a lower benefits package.
The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card does not include an introductory interest rate offer. So if you are looking for a balance transfer credit card, this is not the one for you. In terms of rewards cards, the APR is quite reasonable. Last, but certainly not least, this card does not charge an annual fee, perfect for all Hilton Hotel visitors.
