Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card Review & Bonus Offer

by Michael P

The credit card industry seems to be more competitive each month. There are a variety of rewards credit cards that cover just about every conceivable need. Some of the more popular rewards programs include hotel rewards cards, cash rewards, points, and travel rewards cards. With the variety of programs available, it makes sense to apply for a card you will get the most use out of. And if you are a frequent guest at Hilton properties, then the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card might just be the best hotel rewards card for your needs.

Hilton has teamed up with Citi to release the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card. Citi is one of the largest credit card issuers, and they also provide a full range of banking products, including free checking, savings accounts, mortgages, and other financial services, making it easy to keep all your banking and financial needs under one roof.

Now, simply because Hilton is looking to reward it’s frequent customers doesn’t mean you should simply sign-up for this card without reading the fine-print. We’ll do our best to present the pros and cons of this credit and why it just might be the best travel rewards card for you.

The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card immediately rewards new cardmembers with bonus points after meeting minimum spending requirements within the first four months of opening an account. Those points can be redeemed for a free room, and depending just how extravagant a Hilton Hotel you choose, your points can be worth up-to five nights (or more). The Hilton rewards program is broken down into categories and while a category one hotel runs 7,500 points per night, some hotels run more than 80,000.

Every purchase you make with the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card earns points toward free Hilton Hotel stays.  Points can be earned in the following amounts:

  • Earn 6 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent at any participating hotel within the Hilton Portfolio.*
  • Earn 3 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent on purchases at supermarkets, drugstores and gas stations.*
  • Earn 2 HHonors Bonus Points for each $1 spent on all other purchases.*
  • Enjoy the benefits of HHonors Silver status as long as you are a cardmember*
  • No annual fee.*

So long as you continue to be a Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card member, you will receive Silver status, which includes perks when you stay a select Hilton Hotels.  It’s important to note that if you do not qualify for the Signature version of this credit card, you may be approved for the Gold version, which carries a lower benefits package.

Other Hilton and Citi benefits include:

  • Faster upgrades to Gold status when you meet certain criteria or minimum spending thresholds
  • An annual loyalty bonus of 10,000 Hilton HHonors Bonus Points at the end of each calendar year in which you spend $1,000 or more on stays within the Hilton Portfolio
  • Access to the Citi® Concierge Service
  • No cap on HHonors Bonus Points earned per year

How does this compare to other credit cards? The Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card does not include an introductory interest rate offer. So if you are looking for a balance transfer credit card, this is not the one for you.  In terms of rewards cards, the APR is quite reasonable.  Last, but certainly not least, this card does not charge an annual fee, perfect for all Hilton Hotel visitors.

Anyone who spends a lot of time on the road, specifically at Hilton Hotels would benefit greatly from owning the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card. To learn more or to apply for a card, visit the Citi® Hilton HHonors™ Visa Signature® Card site.
