I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. This was an amazing year for me and my family, and we have a lot to be grateful for. I’ll be celebrating Christmas with my family today and the rest of this weekend, and I hope you are able to take some time to do the same.
Here are a few quick announcements and recommended links.
Personal Finance Bloggers Fantasy Football Super Bowl
Through some good drafting, timely waiver moves, and a lot of luck, my team is going to the fantasy football Super Bowl against the Prime Timers, managed by PT from PT Money.
Playing for charity. There are some serious bragging rights on the line, but more importantly, there is $200 for charity on the line. Before the season started, I pledged $100 to the winner’s favorite charity (if I win I will hold a vote so the readers can choose which charity to sponsor). Well, PT graciously offered to match the donation, and give $100 to my charity of choice if I win, or donate $100 to his charity if he wins. The Super Bowl will be settled this week, so wish me luck!
Download Start Over, Finish Rich free – Jan 4th
David Bach’s new book, Start Over, Finish Rich: 10 Steps to Get You Back on Track in 2010, will be available for a free pdf download on WalletPop on January 4th, starting at 12:01 a.m. EST. The book giveaway will last until midnight on the 4th.
David Bach is famous for several other books, and for creating “The Latte Factor,” which uses an example of cutting a daily latte and investing the money instead. The results in the example can make a difference in your financial future. I used this principle to take it a step further in this article, Above and Beyond the Latte Factor.
David Bach is donating $1 for each copy of Start Over, Finish Rich sold in 2010 (up to $20,000) to charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. His donation will go towards sponsoring a freshwater well and latrines at a school and will serve 1,000 students.
