Just a friendly reminder for those of you who may owe estimated taxes – the deadline for filing is Tuesday, September 15th. Estimated taxes are due four times per year on the dates listed below, or the following business day if the due date falls on a weekend or holiday.
- April 15th
- June 15th
- September 15th
- January 15th
Who owes estimated taxes? If your employer withholds taxes from your paycheck and you don’t have any other forms of income, you probably don’t need to worry about estimated taxes. If you are self employed, or receive income that does not have taxes withheld, then you may need to pay estimated taxes (and possibly self-employment tax). If you are not sure if you owe estimated taxes, then I recommend checking out this estimated taxes guide, or contacting an accountant for more information.
