Keep in mind there are certain people/organizations this does not apply to, such as charities and political organizations. I avoid junk mail not only to be rid of the bother but it is good for the environment to reduce the amount of waste (both the actual paper... and the transportation of that paper). And for charities I tell them not to send me junk mail, and not to sell my name to others who will. I have stopped supporting charities that want to keep polluting my mailbox with junk. Good advice. I love the OptOut program. I signed up about two years ago. Since then I have gotten very little "junk" mail and no radom credit card offers that I can remember.
