My favorite gift that I have given my father was a nice watch. A few years ago I splurged on him and it was so worth it – he loves that watch.
Hmm… I made a card for my dad last year that he really enjoyed. That’s the best in recent memory.
First, to answer your question, I think the best Father’s Day gift I ever gave my dad was a set of handblown glass beer mugs. They were really nice, and he really loved them. (Unfortunately he’s a bit klutzy and most of them haven’t made it for the long haul!)
I love, love, love T.J. Maxx and Marshall’s. They are two of my favorite stores. Sometimes you have to really look, but you can find really good quality, name-brand things there for way cheaper than a traditional department store.
Great contest. My favorite Father’s Day gift was one I gave my husband last year — a copy of the Giants Superbowl win! It was part of his year in sports, since his favorite basketball team, the Celtics, also won the championship…
Thanks for doing this givaway! I’m a big fan of these discount stores. My fiancee says I have an unrealistic expectation for what clothes should cost, which is why I rarely buy myself anything new.
The best gift I ever gave my dad was a print of his favorite Andrew Wyeth painting. He is a huge fan of the Wyeth painters and has gone to their museum several times. I bought the print online and framed it myself. He now has it hanging in the living room.
A few years ago, I gave him a painting I did. It was a reproduction of one of his favorites. It’s now framed and hanging in his office!
My dad loves sweets and sardines, so one year I got him sardine-shaped chocolates wrapped in a traditional tin complete with key.
The best Father Day’s gift that I gave my dad was traveling to see him (we lived in different states) on Father’s Day. He always enjoyed us and grandchildren with him on this day. The day that stands out the most is the Father’s Day we went to see him and my dad, husband and son went fishing, and my son hooked my dad through the nose with his fishing hook! Now that my father is gone, I am so happy that we took the time to see him on Father’s Day.
The best one that I ever gave him was free. A grand slam (my only homer that season) in 6th grade.
the best thing i gave for a fathers day gift is a home made picture i made for my grandfather. i drew it myself and i made it in class for him.
he liked it a lot.
The best gift that I ever gave my father was also the cheapest. I was 6 years old, and in school we glued our picture to a 4″x4″ block of wood. It was my toothless, crew-cut wearing 2nd grade picture, with “A Chip Off the Old Block” scrawled on it that became his favorite gift. Every purchased gift after that paled by comparison.
I think my favorite father’s day gift was a watch to my dad. I was 16 and earned all the money for it by keeping score for customers at a local bowling alley – this is before they had the computers. Unfortunately, he passed away the following month, but I still have the watch as a keepsake and it reminds me of him always. Thanks for reminding me of that and for the cool giveaway!
A card I made myself.
Thanks for the contest!
The best fathers day gift I got was a collage of photos from my wife of our kids playing in the yard.
My parents have been divorced since I was 1, so my dad always claims the best present I give him for Father’s Day is just spending time with him. I usually add a card and sometimes a small gift just for good measure.
My kids’ artwork is my favorite . . .
Best Father’s Day gift I had every received was a hand made card from my young son(s).
The first gift I gave my Dad was my best, maybe because it was the first or maybe because I saved pennies to buy it. Both factors really made me proud.
I bought a gizmo that heated up shaving cream so my Dad could get a warm shave. I bought it at a garage sale for 25 cents in the mid-70s. I washed my Grandparents and Uncle’s car to earn that 25 cents. My Dad loved it.
The best father’s day gift I gave was a large hammock and stand to my husband. He said so! It is a great relaxation focal point on our deck. Since our deck is raised and surrounded by large trees he feels he is in a treehouse. He takes a book out, lays in the hammock and frequently is found fast asleep!
The best gift I ever gave my dad was a painting of his hometown; the way it looked when he was growing up. He really loved it and it now hangs in a place of honor.
My favorite gift was a grill I gave my dad. It has kept us all well fed since then.
My dad being in another country it is very rare we get to spend Father’s day with him around. Last year he was here in US and wanted to see a special screening of an international movie starring his favorite actor. He rarely asks for anything at all. It so happened I got to take him to it on Father’s day! He enjoyed it very much. Little did I or he knew at that time he would soon be diagnosed with brain tumor and pass away in a few short months. He is dearly missed.
the best thing i’ve ever given my father was a hug because i couldn’ t afford anything else.
The best father’s day gift I gave my dad was imported food from his country of origin. I found a website that sells it and knowing he would enjoy the food as well as the memories brought on by the tastes, I decided to pay the extra money. Not very frugal, but worth it. He was very surprised.
The winners are comments #20 and #24. Congratulations!
