But given Washington's recent push for (and funding of) universal voluntary civil service, we could see otherwise. Working for an organization that actually benefits people who need help the most is very important for me. Granted, the pay isn't what I could make in the corporate world, but it's more important for me to feel good about what I do. I would definitely encourage people to consider non-profit or social service work. It's not always easy, but it can be very rewarding. I have to say that I’ve been very happy working for a non-profit. Working for an organization that actually benefits people who need help the most is very important for me.
