Roundup – Rock Band Edition

by Patrick on April 5, 2009

My wife and I went to a party this weekend and the hosts had a full set up for Rock Band on the PS3. I had played Guitar Hero before, but until yesterday, had never played Rock Band. The games are similar except Guitar Hero is pretty much designed for one player, and Rock Band has multiple instruments, including guitar, drums, bass, and vocals – much better for a party environment! In real life I can play guitar fairly well, but the games are nothing like the real thing – at least in my opinion. Suffice it to say, I wasn’t very good. But it was a fun way to spend a couple hours.

Zecco April Fools’ Day: Million Dollar Account Balances. I can’t believe a company would do something as dense as making customer accounts show having more than $1,000,000 – and make them live! Make a landing page, sure. Ha-ha. But actually allow people to trade with money they don’t have…that’s just irresponsible. (There is some speculation this may have been a system glitch and not an April Fool’s Day joke. Either way, it’s ugly).

My in-laws have Rock Band and I play the drums. I figure that’s one skill that’ll actually transfer…plus I’ve always wanted to be a drummer. Not enough to buy a kit (don’t think my parents would have gone for it either, and can’t do it in the apt) but enough to have a great time playing it.

I can’t play Santeria, though. There’s something that happens midway through the song that kills me.
