Unfortunately we see a lot of people in our industry (non-profit credit counseling) who end up in even worse financial situations because they get pulled in to using services that aren't reputable. And that's across the board from debt relief to mortgages to reverse mortgages to debt collectors. I always tell people by taking just a little time to check out a business and understand the laws you can ensure that you're working with a reputable company and save yourself a big headache.
