Weekly Roundup – New Theme Edition

by Patrick on March 1, 2009

Cash Money Life has a new look! If you are a subscriber and are reading this through a feedreader or via e-mail, I invite you to come on over and check out the new theme – it is brighter and cleaner than the earlier theme, and the new logo looks great.

About the new Cash Money Life theme

The new theme is running on Thesis, which is a very popular premium WordPress theme. You can read why I chose to go with this theme in my Thesis review. The basics boil down to usability, flexibility, and SEO benefits. It is a great theme!

Theme customization. Thesis doesn’t look like this straight out of the box – I had Larry from Empty Cabin Media do the customizations. He specializes in Thesis customizations, and I think he does a great job and highly recommend him if you need blog consulting, coaching, or theme work done!

Blog Logo. The new Cash Money Life logo was designed by Pete from Logos for Websites. Pete specializes in blog logos and banners, and offers high quality work and a quick turn around time. I highly recommend visiting his website if you are in need of a blog logo, banner, or other design.

National Consumer Protection Week

The upcoming week, March 1 – March 7, is National Consumer Protection Week. The FTC and partner websites are trying to bring attention to consumer protection issues such as consumer rights, safe online banking, issues involving credit & collections, identity theft prevention, and more. Look for an article or two with these topics on this site in the coming week.

eBillMe – Pay your bills online for free. I recently found out about a site called eBillme, which allows members to pay their bills online for free. It’s easy to use – you select the eBillme option when paying online (only at select stores) and you will receive the bill via e-mail. You then log on to your bank and pay eBillme via your bank’s bill pay. eBillme then pays the merchant. It’s quick, easy, and free, and you don’t need to worry about sending any personal or financial information online. It’s a good alternative for those who don’t have a credit card – but I prefer to use cash back credit cards for my online shopping!

Personal finance blog rankings. If you are a fan of personal finance blogs such as this one, I recommend checking out two personal finance blog rankings – Top 100 personal finance blogs at Wise Bread, and one at Fire Finance. These ranking systems are primarily based on traffic, but you can use them in different ways – hopefully to find news personal finance blogs to read and subscribe to!
