The temperature dropped to 15 below zero earlier this week, which is extremely cold for this area. Thankfully, the extreme weather passed after only lingering for a few days and we are now at a *more* comfortable 27 degrees. That’s still very cold, but not too cold for homemade ice cream! My wife and I received a Cuisinart ice cream maker from her parents for Christmas, and we decided to try it out for the first time. The verdict? It’s excellent! I don’t know if we will actually save much money compared to buying ice cream from the store, but the flavor and creaminess are much better, so I’m sold!

I love, love, love homemade ice cream! My grandparents always made it when I was growing up, especially in the summer when fresh strawberries were in season. It tastes so much better than anything you can buy in the store. I think it’s best when made with ice milk.
