Did anyone see P. Diddy’s recent YouTube Video in which he whines about high gas prices? It seems he can’t afford to spend the money to fuel his private jet for round trip flights between LA and NY.
Diddy says 2 round trip flights cost him about $250,000, so he needs to fly commercial on American Airlines. He also said he was flying coach, but when he sat down it sure looked like it was in a first class leather seat.
Here is a short excerpt:
“I’m actually flying commercial. That’s how high gas prices are. I’m at the gate right now. This is really happening, proof gas prices are too high. Tell whoever the next president is we need to bring gas prices down.”
Yes, he said, “This is really happening.” (As though he were above everyone else). He went on to plead to his “Saudi Arabian brothers and sisters” to send him some free gas so he can fly his private jet.
In any case, I can’t feel sorry for you Diddy. You earned an estimated $35 million last year, or almost 700 times what the median US houshold income in 2007 ($50,233). How are we supposed to feel sorry for you?
Here is P. Diddy in all his glory. (note: language not suitable for a workplace environment)
What do you think about this? I’d love to read your comments.

Wait, waaaaait, I think I feel a little tear rolling down my cheek….
Brotha, you influential. YOU do something about it. All your money and your entourage, you’d think you could think of something better than a YouTube to start your movement.
Quit cryin’, Diddy, you’re starting to sound like just another baby, too-good-for-the-common-folk, priviledged celebrity, and that can’t be good for your image….
Unbelievable.
So…if gas prices were to get cut in half, he would only pay $125,000 for 2 round trip flights?
Yeah, I feel real sorry for him.
Wow… and at my house, we were dancing at the gas pump that the price was down to $3.49 a gallon the other day. Of course, we don’t need jet fuel.
This may just be a marketing / PR thing. Diddy is known for making viral videos and using diddy.com to promote his product line. If you’ve ever watched the new show “I wanna work for diddy” on VH1 they often mention Diddy making video’s of everything and putting it on youtube/diddy.com
Eric, it could be marketing, but it sounds more like whining. Either way, he is getting plenty of attention from this.
First: The guy needs to stay in the news and this is how he does it. Second, there is no way that a round trip flight on his jet is costing him $125,000 unless he is also including his fixed costs like depreciation, salaries, etc. The guy is publishing bogus stuff as usual.
Hey Diddy…don’t tell the next president, tell Congress right now! They are the ones responsible for this mess. I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone making $35 million a year!
Non-issue.
Mostly I was really angry when I heard about all of this nonsense. Part of me wonders if he’s really serious. And part of me actually feels sorry for him if he is serious. I don’t feel sorry because he can’t afford to fly his private jet. I feel sorry because he’s so out of touch with reality. Famous people seem to enter this alternate universe with no sense of normality.
Actually, the real answer is that he needs to make more money. Spend less than you earn… or make more than you spend.
We don’t *really* have a “high gas price” problem. We still pay less than almost everyone else, while enjoying a higher standard of living.
deepali, you’re right. He needs to
rip offsample a few more classic rock hits to earn more money.ToughMoney,
He probably keeps pilots and staff on salary and flies around his entourage as well… Still, $250k is quite a bit of money. If he was smart, he would start chartering out his jet when he isn’t using it – that way it’s earning him money instead of costing him money.
Waahh waaah waaah…
Seriously?
Ryan
Do you really want a hip-hop artist to make his own music. That is a novel idea. This guy is just a complete douche. Next Kanye will be out there saying President Bush is keeping gas prices high to hurt the black man cuz we all know Bush doesn’t like the black man (Kanye’s words). God I am tired of all this whining and BS.
I love when rich people worth probably a billion bucks complain about prices. That’s comedy better than anything I have seen in a long time.
Right on, deepali. If anything, gas needs to be more expensive to change habits.
horrifying. no words!
