Weekly Roundup - Fantasy Football Edition
By Patrick on Aug 24, 2008 in Personal Finance
Well, I bit the bullet and joined a fantasy football league this year. That isn’t really noteworthy except that I don’t watch football, and I don’t know much about it, at least from a fantasy standpoint. But I am friends with several members of the fantasy football league, so this is a good chance for some trash talking and draft day BBQ. I joined a keeper league (we have a CBS fantasy football league, but Yahoo is another good option) and I took over a team from someone who moved out of the area. I get to keep Ladanian Tomlinson, who is probably the best player in the league. Here’s hoping my draft ends up going well!
Now Fantasy Baseball, on the other hand… I know a bit about that and it is a lot of fun! I watch baseball and have a couple fantasy baseball teams, one of which is a league with other personal finance bloggers - the aptly named Moneyballers League. The league members are JD, Jeremy, Jim, Lazy Man, Money and Values, Pinyo, PT, and Trent. I am currently in 2nd place behind the Lazy Guy, who is anything but lazy when following his favorite sport.

I have no idea how much I will need. So right now, I am still working on accumulating and trying to make it grow.
- Might bargain Hunter wrote There is NOTHING unpatriotic about retiring early. I agree 100%. If you have reached a level of financial security where you can retire and you want to retire, do it. You’ve earned the right.

Oh no, I am definitely going to lose the fantasy football league since I have no idea what I am doing and didn’t do anything with it yet.

Thanks for the link..
I’m gonna be in the fantasy football league with other personal finance bloggers, and I’m looking forward to it. I always seem to end up in first place, or last place, never in between. We’ll see what it’ll be this year!

No idea where I will end up. This is the first time I joined a league. I have a strong start to my draft with LT, but after that, I just don’t know who or what to even look for!

I never really got into sports - either real or virtual - but I do love paper trading with stocks and virtual trading.

Jonathan,
I love Fantasy Baseball, so I figure I will give football a go. I’ve got a lot to learn. I may not win the league this year, but next year… Look out!
Btw, beautiful site you’ve got there!

Looking forward to hearing about your season…from someone who doesn’t claim to watch football, it should be interesting!
Thanks for the mention…

David, It might be so bad that I don’t give updates.

Wow thanks for the link. Good luck with the fantasy football. My brother in law spends his whole weekend trying to outsmart the others in his league. It’s a demanding thing
