Weekly Roundup Bachelor Edition

by Ryan on July 20, 2008

My wife went to visit family this weekend, leaving me all alone for the first time in a long time. Normally, I enjoy a little time to myself, but I ended up working late Friday, some Saturday, and I feel under the weather today. Hopefully I won’t get her sick when she returns tonight.

First Step Challenge: Mrs. Micah started a first step challenge in which she challenged herself, readers and fellow bloggers alike to make one small step this week toward improving their finances. Be sure to check it out and the first step challenge follow-up where she talks more about doing simple things to improve your finances.

Celebrations in the blogosphere: Flexo celebrates 5 Years of Consumerism Commentary, an amazing age for any blog. I’m not certain, but I think CC is one of the longest tenured personal finance blogs on the internet. Here’s hoping for 5 more years! Fellow M-Newtwork member, Pinyo, celebrates Moolanomy’s First Birthday. Congrats on your first year, Pinyo. Hopefully this is just the first of many to come! :)

Thanks for the mention. Hope you get to feeling better. I’ve been a bachelor this weekend as well, but WAS able to get a lot done, including hickory smoking a pork shoulder and a turkey! Yum.

Hope you feel better – try to drink at least 6 beers, I heard that helps.

Thanks for the mention!

Sorry you don’t feel well. Maybe you just miss your wife. :-)

Thanks for the mention.

I hope you feel better Ryan. Here’s a “get well recipe” a friend passed along to me that I love to drink when I have a cold or flu:

Russian Tea Cold Cure(from Prevention magazine)
1 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c instant black tea
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 c Tang mix
1 tsp ground cloves
1 packet of 2 qt lemonade mix
Combine the ingredients and mix thoroughly. Store in an air tight container. Shake well before using. Add 3 to 4 tsp. to a cup of hotwater. Drink 4 to 6 cups a day as needed.
