Well, I’m back from vacation now. My wife and I had a great time visiting my family in TX. While on vacation, we visited some family and friends, saw my sister graduate high school, and went skydiving, which is something I will always remember. It was great seeing my family and friends again.
Happy Father’s Day! I won’t be spending Father’s Day with my Dad, but I did just see him last week which was nice. Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there!
Guest posts: While I was gone, several bloggers sent in guest posts for me to publish. Publishing guest articles is a lot of fun for me because I get to read other people’s perspectives, and it gives them a chance to see their work published elsewhere. If anyone else would like to have a guest article published on Cash Money Life, feel free to contact me. I am more than happy to publish quality articles – and you don’t need to be a blogger to participate!
My favorite articles this week (and the week before; I didn’t read much while I was away!):
- With rising gas prices affecting everyone, Gibble wrote How to be a hypermiler. Some people take this concept too far to the extreme, which can be dangerous. But if done safely, hypermiling can save you a lot of money!
- Jim wrote about hypermiling too.
- Being Frugal shares some frugal summer activities.
- PaidTwice asks if your goals are holding you back?
- Plonkee has some advice for new college grads.
- David is getting ready for a big move and is giving away stuff via Freecycle. My wife and I just leaned our basement, and I think I may be using this soon.
- Ron from The Wisdom Journal wrote a great article on how to prepare for an interview.
- Jonathan from My Money Blog decided he needed to buy more life insurance and he took a look at employer sponsored group life insurance vs. individual life insurance. It can pay off to run the numbers.
- JLP interviewed Liz Pulliam Westin, who writes an MSN Money column. I’ve enjoyed reading her articles for a couple years now, and it’s nice to read an interview with her.
- Kevin from No Debt Plan wrote about portion control and your finances. There is a great visual showing the size of single serving Coke bottles through the years. Very interesting.
- John Chow is hosting a contest sponsored by Market Leverage. The prize is a duffel bag full of goodies including a $200 prepaid rewards card, an iPod nano, a Flip Video Camera, and more. Check it out!
- Flexo takes a look at the definition of passive income. Real estate and blogging don’t quite fit the bill.
- The Wisdom journal takes a look at what you should do if you suspect you have some counterfeit money.
This week’s carnivals:
- The Carnival of Debt Reduction #143 — The History of Debt was hosted at Moolanomy. My article, How Can I Improve My Credit Score?, was included.
- The Festival of Frugality #129 – Try a Little Harder This Week Edition was hosted at Money Ning. My article, Blockbuster Total Access – Free 30 Day Trial, was included.
