Yup, its all so true! I am currently starting my second business in personal development and haveing an entrepeneurial spirit can definatly be challenging! I seem to think bigger then others and so am learning to not have to justify my actions and just keep following through on my instincts - and research! Thanks, it is great to be reminded again.

Dollar Frugal,

Great comment! My wife and I have done this a little bit for our respective websites, and it has really helped us think about our sites a little differently. Another perspective adds a lot!

Kirk,

I can understand why your parents might feel that way. That is a more "traditional" line of thinking.

But there is much to be said about ownership and working for yourself! :)

Tisha, great article. My wife was a little unsure about me starting this website because of the time and money involved, but we talked about it, and she was supportive when she realized this was something I wanted to do. Granted, this isn't my full-time job, but it is a business, and it does have expenses and bring in income. Thank you for the guest article. :)

Great advice. My wife has learned to love my entrepreneur spirit and I have learned to always provide a safety net (money in the bank) that she needs to feel safe. The best way to start a business is to find something that you both love.

As with any conflict, if you can find a way to collaborate to benefit you both, you will find synergy to make the whole situation better than it started. Have your significant other come up with his/her own ideas of best practices and they might think of something you've never conceived for your business. Your relationship will flourish because of it!

Tisha,

This is great advice. I was fortunate when I started my business that I had a few clients to begin with and that my wife was on board and able to work.

My parents had the biggest problem. They still make comments that I should think about getting a steady job. While I have days that I miss that steady paycheck, I believe I will be better off in the long run being my own boss.
