Hello everyone, it’s that time of year again… high school and college students around the country are graduating and heading on to the next stage of their lives. Next week my wife and I will travel to TX to visit my family and watch my little sister graduate high school. Then she’s off to college next fall. What an exciting time.
High School Money Matters. It is important to get off on the right foot after graduating high school. Most schools don’t teach personal finance topics in school, so it is either up to parents or students to take it upon themselves to teach and learn about personal finance. Hopefully my sister will catch on to some of these topics. I’ll give her my copy of High School Money Book, which should help.
College Money Matters. Jim from Blueprint for Financial Prosperity wrote a College Grad Money Guide Book that is available for free download. Al you need to do is subscribe to his site. It’s free and you get great daily updates.
Wedding Season. In addition to being graduation season, the wedding season has also started. I wrote an article for the Prosper Blog about starting your married life in financial harmony.
Personal Finance Buzz. Pinyo from Moolanomy released his newest project, Personal Finance Buzz. What is it? It’s basically a website similar to Digg, but for personal finance topics only. PFBuzz users can submit articles, vote submissions up or down, and subscribe by RSS. Check it out!
Thanks for stopping by! May was by far a record month for traffic on my site. Much of the traffic was due to people searching for information on the economic stimulus rebate. Beyond a higher than average number of search engine visitors, many blogs sent traffic my way. I appreciate each person that is sent my way, but since I can’t thank each referring person or blogger individually, I will list the top 10. Thanks to everyone for helping make this site a success!!! The top 10 referring sites in the month of May were:
- The Simple Dollar
- My Money Blog
- Paid Twice
- Moolanomy
- Frugal Dad
- Dough Roller
- My Dollar Plan
- Being Frugal
- Single Guy Money
- Free Money Finance
Here are my favorite articles from this past week:
- Being Frugal is celebrating her one year blogging anniversary by giving away a $50 Amazon gift certificate. Happy anniversary!!!
- Dough Roller wrote about teaching kids about money using four categories, donating, saving, long term, and spending.
- Plonkee asks readers opinions on bankruptcy.
- JD from Get Rich Slowly gave an update on The GRS Garden Project. My wife and I would love to have a garden, but unfortunately, we don’t have enough yard or sunlight to make that happen. Hopefully we will in our next house!
- Lazy Man and Money celebrated it’s 2 year anniversary. Congrats Lazy Man!
This week’s Carnivals:
- The 14th edition of the Money Hacks Carnival was hosted by Prime Time Money. My article, What is COBRA Insurance?, was included.
- The Carnival of Personal Finance #154 was held at Canadian Dream: Free at 45. My article, Is US Currency Legal?, was included.
