Hello Everyone, I hope your weekend is going well. I’m just trying to take a few moments to relax because last week flew by for me! It’s been nonstop since I resigned from my job last week, and there are a ton of little things that need to be done before you can walk away. I’m glad I started making a continuity book a couple weeks ago after I had my first phone interview. Otherwise, my workload would be double!
Map of the stars: Personal Finance blogger PT from Prime Time Money put together a map of personal finance bloggers. If you are curious where some of your favorite personal finance bloggers are located, this is where you need to go to find out. If you are a personal finance blogger and would like to be added to the map, contact PT.
Favorite articles of the week
Here are a few of my favorite personal finance and career articles from last week. I hope you enjoy them.
- Glblguy wrote an article that really struck a chord with me: Unhappy with your job? You’re not alone. I’m very happy I was able to find something new and look forward to starting my new position.
- The Dough Roller shares a real life example of how to turn a mistake into an opportunity.
- David from My Two Dollars reminds us that No Interest For 12 Months Does Not Mean No Interest At All.
- Pinyo from Moolanomy has a great guide about Protecting Yourself Against Identity Theft.
- Trent from The Simple Dollar shares his guide for making and maintaining a master information document with all your financial information and other important data. My wife and I need to make one of these.
- Steve from Brip Blap talks about the big present he gave his first employer. He worked a ton of hours and made his company a ton of money… only to walk away a few years later. I feel like I was starting to reach the same point in the job I just resigned.
- Frugal Dad is now blogging for Wise Bread and Parenting Squad. I( don’t know how he finds the time! His first article for Wise Bread appearedthis past week: Make Grocery Budgeting A Game, The Price Is Right Style.
- SVB from The Digerati Life shares how you can Increase Your Salary Without Increasing Your Work. That sounds great to me!
- Ron from the Wisdom Journal created an illustrated shoe care guide that has great step by step instructions on how to do a proper show shine. Being former military, I have polished my fair share of shoes! And I still do it often.
- Steve of Brip Blap fame strikes again: how to make money without a job and why you should. Steve is referring to one of my favorite topics: alternative income. I’m a fan of finding news ways to generate income. While I enjoy the social aspects of work, I don’t want to work for a company forever.
This week’s carnivals:
- The Festival of Frugality #125 – Save Some Money If You Are Rich Edition was held at Quest for Four Pillars. My article, 15 frugal ideas for Mother’s Day, was included and selected as a car washer (editor’s choice). Thanks for the honor!
Have a great rest of the weekend!

Thanks for highlighting my first Wise Bread post. And I’m not sure how I find the time myself! My current schedule has me burning the candle at both ends – and it’s getting hot!
Thanks for the link back to the carnival!

Hey Patrick, thanks for the mention!
Congrats on the job again. Thanks for your mention of the map.
Thanks Patrick, appreciate the mention!
Patrick, thanks for the double mention! I sympathize with the busy weeks – I’m not even working right now and I barely have a free moment during the day…
