Weekly Roundup - 12 Days of Christmas Edition
By Patrick on Dec 15, 2007 in Personal Finance
Hello, everyone. Christmas is just around the corner. It’s snowing outside (we might get 6 inches today, followed by some more tomorrow!), the tree is up, and most of my Christmas shopping is done. I love Amazon this time of year!
In the continuing spirit of Christmas, several personal finance bloggers, including myself, decided we would write about the 12 Days of Christmas, Personal Finance Style. Yes, we are aware that the 12 Days of Christmas actually start after Christmas, but we wanted to do it now because most people will just be tired of Christmas by then! If you missed it, you can still catch up.
The 12 Days of Christmas - Personal Finance Style:
- Day 12: Being Frugal (December 22nd)
- Day 11: Mrs. Micah - Finance For A Freelance Life (December 21st)
- Day 10: Gather Little By Little (December 20th)
- 9 Financial Lessons @ Cash Money Life
- Eight Maids a Milking @ Rocket Finance
- Seven Tips When You’re Swimming (in debt) @ Working For Financial Freedom
- Six Streams of Income @ Moolanomy
- Five Golden Rules For Snowflaking @ I’ve Paid for This Twice Already…
- Four Calling Tips @ Plonkee Money
- Three Paid Credit Cards @ DebtFREE-Revolution
- Two Guaranteed Ways to Financial Freedom @ Credit Withdrawal
- … and The Best Way to Manage Money @ BeingFrugal.net
This writing project has been a lot of fun, and I hope everyone enjoys reading it! By the way, Six Streams of Income @ Moolanomy is a guest post written by me. Pinyo and his wife recently had a baby, and several other bloggers have offered to write articles for him so he can focus on more important things - his family. Thanks for the opportunity to write for your blog, Pinyo.
Favorite article from around the pf blogosphere:
- Lessons of the Square Watermelon, from Financial Hack. Sometimes it’s best to think outside the box - other times, within.
- The Ultimate Guide to Traditional and Roth 401(k) and IRA Retirement Accounts, from The Dough Roller. Solid information for those looking to get started on retirement.
- Shooting Down Goals - Quest for Four Pillars. This is an interesting take on the validity of certain financial goals, and whether or not they are goals, or just “dreams.” The comments really take this discussion to another level. To be clear, this is not an “anti-goal setting” article, but an examination of what constitutes a goal.
- When recruiters compete, you win? - Mighty Bargain Hunter. This article makes you think a little bit about job searching and who recruiters are really trying to help.
- Make Your Hobby Pay It’s Way - Wise Bread. Here are some great tips to help turn your hobby into a source of income, or to have it at least pay for itself.
- How to Get $250 from Bank of America’s Best Value Guarantee - Prime Time Money. Bank of America really does pay out the $250 if they won’t match your mortgage offer. I wrote about their new policy several months ago - Bank of America Offers No-Fee Mortgages, No PMI.
- Four Incredibly Useful Financial Calculations You Can Do In Your Head - The Dough Roller. I don’t often link to two articles from the same blogger in one week, but here you have it. I think this is a solid article, and one that will make people think twice before spending money.
- Santa Isn’t Coming This Christmas Because There Isn’t Any Home Equity to Tap Into - Generation X Finance. I can’t believe people actually think dipping into home equity for Christmas gifts is even a legitimate option. Emergencies, yes. Luxuries, no.
- What Are We Saving For, Anyways? Our Life Goals and “Retirement” Plans - My Money Blog. This is a great article about establishing a good work/life balance. Too many people focus on the dollars, and not the living.
- What Will it Take to Have $300,000 by 2018? - The Dividend Guy. The Dividend Guy does some math and lays it all on the line. Is his goal to have$300,000 by 2018 feasible?
This week’s Carnivals and Festivals:
- The Carnival of Money Stories #38 was hosted here at Cash Money Life. My article, Do Your Research Before You Invest was included.
- The Festival of Frugality #103 was hosted by Plonkee Money. My article, Save Money With an Air Vent Booster, was included.
- Common Sense Wealth Carnival #3 @ Locomono. My article, Why You Should Buy a Used Car, was included.
Thanks for stopping by! ![]()
