Ahhh, the weekend is here again, and it’s time for me to catch up on my reading. I’ve got to read up on a few of my favorite personal finance blogs (check my blogroll for sites I highly recommend!), and I’ve got a couple books to read – be sure to look for a book review in the coming week.
Also, this past week I won won a signed copy of An American Hedge Fund from Frugal Trader at Million Dollar Journey! Frugal Trader recently reviewed An American Hedge Fund, and interviewed the author, Timothy Sykes. I’m looking forward to reading the book! Thanks, Frugal Trader!
These are some of my favorite articles from the personal finance world this past week:
- Brip Blap wrote a Matrix-inspired post about finding financial freedom: Follow the White Rabbit to Financial Freedom. This is fun if you’re a Matrix fan.
- Silicon Valley Blogger for The Digerati Life asks are you ready to retire? She is.
- Shadox at Money and Such asks “is your portfolio is diversified?” If you think it is, you might want to double check.
- Jim from Blueprint for Financial Prosperity also reminds us to check your asset diversification across all accounts. Great advice, Jim!
- JLP from All Financial Matters gives us a cool way to track all of our household belongings for insurance purposes. This is timely news with the fires in CA. But you should do it even if you don’t live in a high risk area. you never know when you will need a little insurance!
- Jeremy from GenXFinance tells us – You Don’t Need to Save Money – Just Use the Equity in Your Home! By the way… He doesn’t mean it, and explains why that is not a good idea!
- Nick from Punny Money tells us how to Never Buy Useless Crap Again. Actually, hes shows us in diagram form…
- Why Do You Work So Hard? Pinyo from Mooloaomy tells us a story that might just make you rethink a thing or two about why we work so hard.
- And one of my favorites this week - Director’s Direct and Writer’s Write: How Creative People Get Stuck on Other People’s Career Paths. This is an article from Brian at Genius Types. The message is an easy one to understand, but one that many people do not always practice.
This week’s Carnivals and Festivals:
- Carnival of Personal Finance #123 hosted by The Dough Roller: My article this week was Live on Less Income – Give Yourself a Voluntary Paycut.
- Carnival of Money Stories #31 hosted by Stop the Ride!: My submission this week was My Financial Success Story – I Spend Less Than I Earn.
- Personal Finance Money Tips hosted by KLau: How to Deal with a Drastic Decrease in Income.
Have a great weekend.
