7 More Random Things About Me

by Patrick on October 7, 2007

There is a meme going around right now. If you aren’t aware of what a meme is, basically, it’s when someone writes about a topic and then “tags” others to do the same. Sometimes they are a lot of fun, other times, they are designed to serve a different purpose. In fact, I have done this once already a couple months back, with 8 Random Things About Me. But, I’m sure I can come up with a few more random bits of information.

This time around I was tagged not once, but twice! The first time was by Plonkee Money, then minutes later by Moolanomy. Thanks! ;)

Here are 7 more random things about me:

  1. I hate the word manky. I had never heard it until I lived in England while I was in the USAF. I’m not 100% sure, but I think it is a derogatory slang expression (though not vulgar). I don’t know why I hate it… but to me the definition sounds much like the word – manky. And I don’t like it.
  2. I don’t like Marmite either. It’s a cultural phenomenon in the UK and Australia. I tried it once and can do without.
  3. I love British pubs. (I had to write something nice after I dissed England twice in a row!) Seriously, I really enjoyed my time in the UK, and if the only bad things I have to say about the UK are about manky Marmite, I think that’s ok. ;)
  4. I have owned a motorcycle, flown an airplane, and driven a boat.
  5. I want to skydive. We had a rain out the day I was set to go. Thankfully I got a refund! Update – I have been skydiving!
  6. I do not suffer from claustrophobia. In fact, I have been spelunking on several occasions and found it quite fun.
  7. I can’t stand reality TV programs, I don’t care what Britney Spears did, and it doesn’t matter to me who in Hollywood is dating who.

I have decided I will only tag 2 people instead of 5. A lot of people have also done this the last time it went around. ;)

So here goes…

Feel free to write 7 Random Facts About Yourself. ;)

Mmmmm marmite. As the advert says, you either love it or you hate it.

You didn’t write about all the Brit stuff because of Plonkee right?

Sky diving? You are a brave man!

Hi Pinyo,

No, only the Marmite part. I know Plonkee is a fan of it. I was actually thinking about the word manky the other day and how much I dislike the word. I thought it would be fun to write it. It is a little off the wall.

I do like England though. I really enjoyed living there for a few years, and wouldn’t mind going there again. :)

As for skydiving, we went and paid for it, but the storms came up too quickly and we had to cancel. We got a refund and I haven’t tried to do it since then. Maybe one day! ;)

Hola Patrick,

Thanks for the tag. It was fun to come up with 7 random things which can be hard to think about considering my life has been random.

Did you ever get a chance to visit Irish pubs when you were over the puddle? I am curious which is more favorable, British versus Irish pubs?

You’re welcome Mark. It was good fun reading your “7 Random Things.”

Unfortunately, the only time I made it into Ireland was the airport, where I was sure to grab a couple pints of Guinness. They were wonderful, as expected. ;)

The British pubs are also wonderful. My friend was in a band in England and I twiddled knobs on the sound board. We had so many wonderful evenings in the pubs. Great times that I will remember forever. :)

FWP: It was a Honda Shadow Spirit – 1100. It was a great bike but I deployed too often when I was in the military. Since I couldn’t enjoy it, I sold it.
