It looks like this publicity will last a long time. I just heard the ball will be branded and donated – I know it’s old news, but I’ve been out of the country w/out internet access I’m guessing the HOF will display the ball, and probably a little narrative about how and why it was donated. If so, his name will stay with the ball forever. That’s great publicity!

I think he’s getting a good $750,000 worth of publicity out of it, so I wouldn’t say he’s blown the money.

Means No Cents, I agree 100%. A-Rod appears to be heir apparent to the throne, and I couldn't be happier. The other thing to consider: This isn't even the final home run record, it is only the record. Each time Bonds hits another HR, he breaks his own record. Now we have to ask, How much will the final home run record baseball be worth?

As far as an investment- it doesn’t seem like something worth holding onto. For one, the obvious questions of worthiness. More importantly, though, is the fact that Alex Rodriguez is going to eventually surpass him anyway (by a lot).

Therefore, I voted to brand the ball with the asterisk even if only for the symbolic significance of such an act.

That is fantastic, I voted for #3. But I would like to see #4 – Give ball back to Barry, but ball will have to be officially retrieved by a proctologist.
