Here are my favorite articles from other personal finance blogs. There are a lot of great articles, I hope you enjoy them!
- Get Rich Slowly: Drama in Real Life: “You’re Fired!”. JD wrote about his experiences when he was forced to fire someone recently. This does not sound like a fun experience, but I think he handled it very well. I really hope his former employee learns from this experience. I know JD did. So did I.
- Clever Dude: Guess What… We don’t have credit card debt anymore! Awesome, Clever Dude! Congratulations! For those who haven’t read it, see how Clever Dude and his wife went from $23k in credit card debt to none.
- lifehacker: DIY: Make a Hidden Safe With a Wall Outlet. Sneak, sneaky! Build a false electrical outlet in your wall to hide valuables. Thieves will not likely take the time to examine each electrical outlet in your house. However, you can only put a few things in there. And don’t forget to remove your valuables if you ever move!
- Money Smart Life: Come On! Buy it Now, You Can Pay Later – Sales Tactic #3. Money Smart Life continues his series on sales tactics and how not to fall for them. This is an interesting series, and I recommend it.
- Moolanomy: Why not teach money management to kids in high school? I have often wondered this same question. I think money management should be taught in all high schools.
- The Simple Dollar: Personal Finance and Nostalgia. Trent asks if you should sell a collection of something if it still brings you joy. This post inspired me to ask – should I sell my baseball card collection?
- Blueprint for Financial Prosperity: Why The Fed Interest Rate Affects the Stock Market. Here’s a little economics lesson with practical applications. This is good to know, if anything just to sound more intelligent!
- Generation X Finance: Making Sense of the Recent Market Volatility. If you’re in the market for the long term as I am, this shouldn’t affect you too much. But it is still nice to know what’s going an and why.
- Finance Physician: Pros and Cons of military service to pay for medical / professional school – HPSP (the Health Professional Scholarship Program). This is some very solid analysis about using a military scholarship to pay for your school. It covers costs, military commitment, salary, forgone salary from a civilian standpoint and more. If you are considering this option read this article first. And remember, don’t join the military just because of financial reasons! Do it because it is what you want to do.
- The World of Wealth: Being Grateful Now. This is the best one to end on. Take a look at your situation. I’m positive you can find many things to be thankful for.
I hope everyone enjoys these great articles, and learns something form them!

Patrick, thank you for the inclusion of my post. Great minds think alike. Money management should be offered in high school.
thanks for the link man!
Thanks for visiting my blog! I was worried that post might be a little deep (esp for a Friday afternoon!), but the response seems to have been positive.
