Weekly Roundup – My Favorite Personal Finance Posts

by Ryan on August 25, 2007

It’s Saturday again! Here are some of my favorite posts from the personal finance world from this past week:

Journey to Financial Freedom: Joe in Iraq (link no longer available). Nick deployed for a year to Iraq to help pay off all of his debt and gain a strong financial footing. He met Joe, who is a civilian contractor who is doing the same thing, and is now on his 2nd year in Iraq. This ties in with one of my post from the previous week, Is a Job Worth Your Life?.

Blogging Away Debt: Cramming – I Never Heard of It Until Today. This is another scam that people need to be aware of. Thanks for the head’s up, Tricia!

Punny Money: Five Problems That’ll Make You a BILLIONAIRE If You Solve Them. Most billionaires share one thing in common – they all found a way to solve a large scale problem and make money in the process. If you can solve these, you’ll be well on your way to passing Carlos Slim as the world’s wealthiest man.

Blueprint for Financial Prosperity: How You Should Compare Salaries. Jim gives us some good advice about the best way to compare salaries – and it’s not what you think. As always, Jim’s posts elicit a lot of good viewpoints in the comments section (an I’m not just talking about my own. ;) …)

My Money Blog: What’s My Marginal Tax Rate Bracket For 2007?. Jonathan gives us all a jump start on our tax planning for next year. I’m not looking forward to that day at all!

My Two Dollars: Getting Rid Of Clutter – Stopping The “But I Paid For This Already!” Syndrome. Ahhh… This is something my life could use a little more of – less clutter! This is a great article, and a good way of looking at things.

Wise Bread: Job hunting: What is your dutch wife?. This is a very creative way of saying, “Make your resume stick out from the others.” This is a great article if you are preparing for a new job search.

Have a great weekend everyone!
