I don't know why. Probably because that is what I grew up with. My wife and I have a bread machine and we use that almost exclusively now, and I prefer that over any store bought bread. Also you should slice them lengthways and put chunks of chocolate between them, wrap in foil and grill them on a bbq. And then eat them of course.
