Here are some of my favorite posts from personal finance blogs this week:
Financial Organization:
- No Credit Needed: Introducing the No Credit Needed Workbook. NCN is offering his readers and everyone in the No Credit Needed Network access to “a quality, free resource that I can put in someone’s hands and say, ‘Here you go. This is free, it can help you get out of debt, and you can modify it to suit your specific needs.’” Thanks for helping the community NCN!
- Money Smart Life: Organize Your Financial Records for Free. Here is some info about a free money organization program offered by T. Rowe Price. this looks promising!
Military Money:
- Active Duty Military and Money Matters: TSP Dividends. Vause informs us that TSP (Thrift Savings Plan) dividends are automatically reinvested into the TSP holding. This is why some funds appear to earn more than their respective benchmark fund. This is a good thing though, as there is no extra work on the investor’s end. Love that TSP!
- Advanced Personal Finance: USAA I Love You. I feel the same way. KMC accidentally canceled his credit card with USAA while attempting to change his card to a rewards card. The worst part is - he had this particular card for years. No problem, USAA comes to the rescue. I love this bank too.
Career
- Money and Such: How Not to Ask for a Raise. Last week Shadox wrote about how to ask for a raise, this week he tells us what not to do. This is a good read for those who are trying to get a promotion.
- The Dough Roller: I Just Got Laid Off Survival Kit (Including how to find $100k+ job opportunities). A good reference list of what to do if you get laid off. But I would also recommend doing Many of these things even if your job is going well. It can only help you out.
Fruagl Living:
- Money, Matter and More Musings: 12 Things I Will Never Spend My Money On. Here is a list of things Golbguru says he will never spend money on, and why he doesn’t need them.
- Lazy Man and Money: 5 Things I Will Spend My Dimes On. Lazy Man’s spends money on 5 of the 12 things Golbguru won’t spend money on.
Real Estate:
- The Simple Dollar and Finance is Personal debate which is better, a 15 year mortgage or a 30 year mortgage? Finance is Personal says you should never get a 30 year mortgage, and Trent from the Simple Dollar wonders, “are 15 year mortgages really are cheaper than 30 year mortgages?“
Scams, Credit, and Insurance:
- The Dough Roller: How to Know Instantly You’re Being Conned. Read and heed.
- Blueprint for Financial Prosperity: 10 Reason Credit, Debt and You should be BFF. Not an unreasonable amount of debt, mind you. Just enough to build a credit history, be able to acquire loans, and reap rewards benefits.
- My Money Blog: Health Insurance Benefits: Should I Choose the HMO or PPO Plan?. This is a good pros/cons primer in the difference between the two plans. There are a lot of great reader comments as well.
I hope everyone enjoys these great articles by other personal finance bloggers, and learns a few things along the way!

I ordered the organizer CD last week, I’ll let you know how it looks once I try it out.
Sounds good, Ben.
Interesting article about the Thrift Savings Plan. I will use this article as a reference for my site.
